Scope and Contents

These files contain information on the Asian Culture and Awareness Association. The Correspondence, 2000-2004 folder contains the Student Government Association charter for the Asia3D organization with its consititution and bylaws as well as news articles and correspondence related to the organization and member activities. The Correspondence 2004-2005 folder contains all the correspondence between the organization, announcements of sponsored events, election results, and revisions and updates to the constitution. The 2005 CAIC folder contains all information pertaining to the bidding, acceptance, organization, correspondence, flyers, advertisements, financial records, and all other materials of the 2005 Chinese American Intercollegiate Conference hosted by Davidson College's ACAA. The Correspondence, 2005-2006 folder contains correspondence and e-mail announcements for that academic year. There are two CDs that were submitted with mostly JPEG images and a few electronic documents. Some of the pictures have been catalogued in the photograph database. Flyers, 2000- contains only flyers. Proposals and Finance, 2004- contains organizational proposals, ATC budget proposals, donation letters, and financial records for the organization beginning in March 2004. And, it also contains the proposal for an ACAA senator in the SGA and similar materials. The ACAA created a website last updated January 5, 2006, part of which is in the ACAA website folder.

Biographical / Historical

The Asia3D organization, later changed to ASIA Club and then to Asian Culture and Awareness Association (ACAA), was founded in the spring of 2000. The organization is a social and educational group hoping to bring together all parts of the Davidson community in order to raise awareness of Asia and Asian Americans. Sponsored events include forums on what it means to be Asian, study abroad panels on experiences in Asia, a national conference, and other Asian cultural events.
