Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

During his collegiate years at Davidson, Wildman kept a scrapbook of his experiences. On pages 12-13, one will find inscriptions by four women, stating their names, birthdate, residence and "happy thought." On page 37, one will find a photograph of the college nurse in 1922. During his college years, Wildman was invited to a number of social events -- these invitations are included on page 45. Wildman, who eventually becamse a minister, must have missed Sunday School several days because his scrapbook includes several "Sunday School Absence cards" on page 52-53. A large collection of postcards are found on pages 59-66. In the file folder marked "Photographs," you will find several photographs of male students frolicking on the grass; a photograph of three men seated on some steps with a skelton between them; a photograph of a baby in a chair; a photograph of an African-American man; several family group photographs; a photograph of a girl and boy in a Model T car; several military camp photographs; several photographs of girls in mens' clothing; and a photograph of the interior of a bike store (you see four men, two who are standing behind the counter, and two small black children, possibly servants, surrounded by bicycles). In the file folder marked "Miscellaneous," you will find a letter from Albert Wildman's mother; a certificate for the Woodrow Wilson Foundation; a beautiful Valentine's Day card; a Western Union telegram receipt; and several commencement brochures.
