Scope and Contents
The collection consists of Gaddy's college notebook. The first entry indicates the notebook is intended to be record of his college experiences. A second note dated 1859 indicates that only a few speeches were ever added to the notebook. The speeches are on Cheap Literature, the Acquisition of Cuba, and Gaddy's valedictory address.

Biographical / Historical
Risden Bennett Gaddy was valedictorian of the Davidson College class of 1859. He was a lawyer, merchant and farmer in Polkton, North Carolina.
