Biographical / Historical
The Davidson Music Club was a women's organization for music. The first known reference for the club is in the February 19, 1926 Davidsonian which contains a notice that "the Music Club, a recent organization composed of the musical and music loving people of Davidson, met with Mrs. Daugherty last Tuesday evening." The club presented concerts for local schools and churches. During the 1930s, the club sponsored a Junior Music Club for local graded school students. The collection contains a copy of the constitution of the club and a program for the 1940-1941 year. There is also a post card invitation for a recital of the pupils of Franklin Riker held in Shearer Hall in 1941.
