Warren Murdock Cox Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of materials from Cox's student days, from Hang Chow Christian College, and a high school humanities curriculum. Student materials include copies of football, theatre, debate and commencement programs for events in which Cox participated, articles about Cox's student activities, and a transcript issued in 1927. Hang Chow Christian College materials include a yearbook which contains handwritten annotations about students and facilities and Cox's passport for the years he was in China. The Humanities curriculum is organized as a teacher's workbook with lecture notes, sample assignments and tests, and teaching suggestions. Also included in the collection is a photograph of the 1923 Davidson College football team.

Biographical / Historical
Warren Murdock Cox, 1902-1994, was a member of the Davidson College class of 1924. As a student, he was a member of the D-Club and Kappa Alpha. He also particpated in debates. He taught chemistry from 1924 to 1927 at Hang Chow Christian College in China. He earned a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University and worked for Mead Johnson Company. He retired in 1968 and taught humanities at a private high school.
