Scope and Contents
The collection consists of scrapbooks, minutes and newsletters. The scrapbooks contain newsclippings, programs, flyers and photographs. The minutes are of the monthly Board of Directors meetings. The newsletters were issued monthly and contain reports about center activities, volunteer programs, birthdays, and often recipes and book reviews. The files for individuals contain clippings and a biography sheet. The photograph cd contains black and white portraits of members of the Senior Center taken by Frank Bliss.

Biographical / Historical
The Davidson Senior Center began operations in September of 1977 as Davidson Senior Services. It was open to all town residents over the age of sixty. By February 1978, there were 77 members. The Center was based in the railroad depot building on Jackson Street. Among the activities sponsored by the center were weekly and monthly programs, an income tax assistance service, day trips to tourist sites, a cookbook, a Student/Senior Friendship program, and volunteer assistance. The Center operated until the spring of 2004. The Student/Senior Friendship program was continued by the Davidson Parks and Recreation Department.
