Daniel Iverson, son of the Rev. Daniel and Vivien Thorpe Iverson, graduated from Davidson College in 1938. While a student, he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Spanish Club. He played varsity basketball and was director of intramural sports. During World War II, Iverson was awarded the Navy Cross for heroism in the Battle of Midway and a Silver Star for action in the Gaudalcanal campaign. He died in a training accident in January 1944.
