Charles Harper Scrapbook
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, photographs and memorabilia. The clippings are primarily about Davidson College events including athletics, speakers, scholastic awards and faculty. The photographs are of individual students, ROTC groups, dormitory rooms and staff. Memorabilia include membership cards and tickets.

Biographical / Historical
Charles Albert Harper was born in Summerville,Tennessee. While a student at Davidson he was a member of the Philanthropic Literary Society and Sigma Delta Pi. He played intramural football, baseball and soccer and was on the wrestling team. He graduated with a BA in physics in 1936. After Davidson, he attended King's Business College in Charlotte and began a career in life insurance. He worked for the Durham Life Insurance company for thirty years. After his retirement, he moved to Charlotte, NC where he resided until his death in 1995.
