Scope and Contents

The collection consists of Thompson's Delta Phi Alpha (honorary German fraternity) and Athletic Association certificates. His freshman beanie is in the Artifact Collection and photographs of Kappa Sigma and the 60th reunion of the class of 1934 are in the photograph collection.

Biographical / Historical

William "Tee" Taliaferro Thompson graduated in the Davidson class of 1934. He went on to medical school and after being on the staff of St. Luke's Hospital and the McGuire Veterans Administration Hospital in Richmond, VA, joined the Medical College of Virginia. He served as chair of the Department of Medicine from 1959-1973. He followed his father onto Davidson College Board of Trustees serving from 1966 to 1973. While at Davidson,Thompson was an editor of the Wildcat Handbook, president of the Honorary Fraternity Council, a member of the student honor council, earned letters in football and tennis, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Happa and a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity.
