This series contains interviews with Davidson College students and alumni/ae. These interviews document various aspects of Davidson College's history and culture. Some of the alumni/ae listed in this series also worked for Davidson College in various capacities. While this series primarily focuses on student and alumni/ae interviewees, similar interviews can also be found in the other oral history series and sub-groups.

Scope and Contents Oral history interview and transcript with Frank Goldsmith '67 conducted on March 7, 2019. Frank Goldsmith ’67 reflects on his student years at Davidson, a period of time that preceded his eventual conversion to Judaism. Goldsmith speaks to how conservative a climate Davidson was in the mid-60s, the elimination of mandatory Vesper services, and the way the Religion department fostered critical inquiry about Christianity. Frank Jordan, born in Mecklenburg and having lived his early years in Iredell County, is the owner of Lake Norman Limousine Service. In this interview he offers a brief narrative of his life and the establishment of his own two businesses, a painting company and a limousine service. Jordan talks about the work underwent to renovate the Ada Jenkins Center and shares some comments about the state of Black entrepreneurship in Davidson.

This oral history collection explores the untold stories of Asians and Asian Americans at Davidson College. The interviews were conducted in 2020 by Ashley Ip ’22 and Yashita Kandhari ’22. Dr. Sarah Waheed supported Ashley and Yashita’s work as their faculty advisor. The project was funded by the Stories (Yet) To Be Told grant initiative.
