White, Dolly G. (Dolly Marie Gant), 1925-2020
Biography
Dolly G. White was born on May 3, 1925, in Davidson, NC to James Johnson Gant and Margaret Isenhour Gant. She graduated from Davidson High School in 1942. Dolly worked in the textile industry and eventually retired from Burlington Mills as a supervisor. She was a lifelong member of the Davidson United Methodist Church. Dolly's first husband was James C. White, Jr. (b.1922- d.1987), they had two children. Dolly married her second husband, Edwin Mell Hicks, Jr. (b.1915- d.2000), in 1989. Dolly G. White passed away in Concord, NC on January 8, 2020.

Jan Blodgett interviews Dolly G. White [Hicks] and her husband E.M. Hicks in 2000.
In the interview, Jan Blodgett refers to Dolly as "Dolly Hicks" but in most historical records outside of this interview Dolly is commonly known as "Dolly G. White" (White is her first husband's name). This name clarification is important because E.M. Hick's first wife was Dorothy "Dolly" Hicks (b.1920- d.1988).
