Scope and Contents The collection contains correspondence, printed materials, and literary materials. The correspondence is primarily personal letters from friends (1955-1959). The printed materials are copies of articles about Hayes. The literary material from his years as a student at Davidson College includes poetry and prose. The post-Davidson material includes an epic poem, a short story, a paper he gave on "Aphasia," a bound copy of his various publications, and a poetry journal.
