Scope and Contents

The collections consist of transcripts from the Army Special Training Program (ASTRP). There is some correspondence in addition to the individual transcripts. The folder labeled "Transcripts - ASTRP" contains printouts of transcripts on Registrar's Office stationary for members of the 24th College Training Detachment of the Army Air Forces. The folder labeled "ASTP and ASTRP [transcripts]" contains transcripts and correspondence relating to George F. Petty, John H. King, Jerald W. Tapp, Harold L. Bonds, Joseph A. Messina, Augustus M. Parker.

Biographical / Historical

The Registrar oversees all aspects of course registration, classroom assignments, student academic records, and transcripts of Davidson academic records. The Registrar also evaluates transcripts for transfer credit to Davidson, coordinates eligibility to continue, certifies graduation qualification, coordinates commencement activities, maintains the College Registry, edits and publishes the Academic Regulations, and chairs the Curriculum Requirements Committee. Included within the student academic records and transcripts are the records of those who attended the Army Special Training Program (ASTRP) courses held at Davidson College during World War II.
