Scope and Contents

The collection consists of transcripts in the form of index cards. The cards list student name, hometown, dates of attendance, classes, grades given and any credits accepted from other institutions. They are arranged in alphabetical order. There is also a folder with a description of courses for the program.

Biographical / Historical

During World War II, the United States government operated an Aviation Cadet Training program on the Davidson College campus. The students were part of the 24th College Training Detachment. The program was initially under the direction of Major J. L. Bonner. Students attended 14-week sessions with some classes taught by Davidson faculty and others by military instructors. Approximately 1500 cadets went through the program between April 1943 and June 1944.
