Scope and Contents

This collection consists of correspondence for the organization concerning events, the yearly schedules, meetings, and Trip Leader (TL) affairs. Additionally, there are flyers advertising positions as trip leaders, flyers and pamphlets advertising the Davidson Outdoors trip schedules, and the Davidson Outdoors information newsletters for November 1993 and Spring and Fall of 1997. Biographical / Historical

While a student a Davidson College, Ed Daugherty '85 was the Union Board Chair for Davidson Outdoors (DO). A combined effort from him and the Residence Life Office (RLO) brought about the creation of the first Davidson Outdoors Odyssey trip for incoming freshmen. The first trip lasted only three days and claimed 13 participants in 1984. Daugherty later became the director of Davidson Outdoors. DO offers many different trips, Odyssey, the ropes course, the climbing wall, and contacts for courses, such as the Wildnerness Leadership Course, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, and CPR.
