As a response to the change in the athletic program, questions raised by Trustees and Faculty members, and concerns about the future of Davidson athletics, prompted President John Kuykendall, in the spring of 1991, to order a study of College intercollegiate athletics. He formed the Presidential Working Group on Athletics, consisting of the Advisory Council on Intercollegiate Athletics and various administrative officers of the College, to conduct the study.
