Scope and Contents

Oral history interview with James Parks, Davidson College class of 1971. James Parks shares his experience as one of the first few Black students attending Davidson College. Parks, a social activist, retired from his journalistic career in 2011. Parks recalls protests on campus, relationships with townspeople, encounters in the classroom. He describes his involvement in the Presbyterian Church and his three trips back to campus as an alum. This interview was done as part of the Stories yet to be Told grant.
