Scope and Contents

Oral history interview with Pat Hudson, Davidson College class of 1977. Pat Hudson shares his experience attending Davidson as an African American student in the first co-ed freshman class. Hudson grew up in South Carolina as the Jim Crow Era ended. He describes attending both segregated and predominantly white but integrated schools. While at Davidson College, Hudson lived on campus for all four years and worked as a hall advisor for the Residential Life Office. He describes the BSC, Patterson Court, student union, and nearby universities as places that he and his friends socialized. This interview was conducted as part of the Stories yet to be Told grant.
