Sigma Upsilon Literary Honor Society. Records, 1915-1970

 Sub-Group
Identifier: RG12-20

Scope and Contents

The collection contains only a very brief sketch of the national fraternity. There are minutes from meetings for 1915-1930 and 1936-1951. The minutes are quite lighthearted and some are written in poetic form. The Faculty Supper file documents the faculty contributions for an annual dinner and includes their recipe for hamburgers. There are many "continuous" stories (stories in which each chapter was written by a different member). There is one epic poem about Peter Stuart Ney. There are also short stories, and some song lyrics. The fraternity published a newsletter called the Blue Scroll and copies of this newsletter are available. There also is a copy of poems and stories written by members of the fraternity and labeled "Readings in Honor of Archibald MacLeish."The oversize folder contains music. Unfortunately, the majority of the authors and artists are not identified. Copies of a published work, "Four Plays," are available in the Davidsoniana Room collection and in the generallibrary collection.
