This folder contains Davidsonian articles pertaining to ACAC's creation and sponsored activities. There are also announcements of events which it sponsored in the form of flyers and e-mails. AIDS Quilt, AIDS Luminary Project, and Day Without Art (DWA).

Biographical / Historical

Created in September 2000, Adopt-A-Country AIDS Campaign (ACAC)set out to raise awareness and involvement on campus with the AIDS cause. The ACAC charter was approved by the Student Government Association (SGA) and was proposed and authored by Muna Musittwa (2003), Grant Lovellette (2003), and Judi Kaplan (2004). ACAC receives partial funding from the Activities Tax Council (ATC) and also from fundraising efforts and charitable donations. It is the first organization of its kind in the United States that within one year had chapters in other schools in North Carolina. It selects a certain country regularly, for which it focuses its efforts and donations, as well as sponsors events on campus that helps spread awareness of and/or raise money for AIDS research and those affected by AIDS.
