The collection is organized into the following series: Biographical material; Speeches; Printed Material; Scrapbooks; and Memorabilia. The biographical materials include information on Mr. Martin's years at Davidson and photographs as well as information on his family and wife, Dorothy. There are a few speeches from his years as governor of NC. The majority of the collection is printed material, consisting of campaign literature from 1984-1989 and newspaper clippings of his political life and activities from 1973-1992. There is information about his receiving an honorary degree from Davidson College, printed information about the Fund for Science at Davidson College, and information about the Executive Mansion in Raleigh, NC. Memorabilia includes inaugural badges from 1989, a lapel pin and bumper stickers from 1986, negatives from photos of his inauguration, 1985, Committee of 1000 pin and sticker, 1985, Inaugural day pin, 1985, a republican badge, 1984, videotapes of "Education: take a look around," 1988, Executive mansion napkins, and Campaign bumper stickers. The oversize folder contains information about the Fund for Science Education at Davidson and a signed autographed photograph (16"x20")
