This collection includes four term papers and one master's thesis from Old Dominion University. Sugg deals with race relations, particularly such conditions in North Carolina. Topics include free Negroes, slavery, the Fusion and Populist Movements and black and white farmers' alliances. The papers discuss political and social aspects of race relations in the South in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. Photocopies of documents, pamphlets and publications from the 1890s were removed. These materials can be found in the Weeks Collection, J.E. Coulter Collection and Cyrus Thompson Papers at UNC-Chapel Hill.
