Biographical / Historical

James Tate Murphy was graduated from Davidson College in 1878. He was a member of the Philanthropic Society. After graduation he was a teacher and principal at the Little River Academy, Mills River Academy, Clinton Male Academy, and the Clinton Collegiate Institute. He later became the Assistant Chief Clerk at the Bureau of Statistics.
