Scope and Contents
The collection consists of letters written by Greenlee to his family discussing college life and a letter written to Greenlee from Charles Montgomery Payne, 1842-1900 (1863). In addition to the original letters, there are typescripts and a copy of the letter reporting Greenlee's death made by Mary M. Greenlee.

Biographical / Historical
James Logan Greenlee was a member of the Davidson College class of 1863. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862 and was wounded in the second battle of Manassas. He died in September of 1862.
