Robert Murphy Williams was graduated from Davidson College in 1896. While a student, he was a member of the Philanthropic Society. He attended Union Theological Seminary and was a pastor and evangelist in the Wilmington Presbytery. He was also a pastor in Greensboro, North Carolina.
