Biographical / Historical

The Reverend Samuel B.Wilson was born in Lincoln County, NC and was ordained in 1806. He served as a pastor (1806-1841) in Fredericksville, Va and as professor at Union Theological Seminary from 1841 to 1869. He was offered the presidency of Davidson College in 1836 and 1841 and declined both times. His son Samuel B. O. Wilson, a graduate of Princeton College and Union Theological Seminary, served a professor of Ancient Languages at Davidson College from 1841 to 1853.
