Biographical / Historical

Dr. Charles Harris (1762-1825) is credited with the first medical school in North Carolina in "Historical Sketches of North Carolina" by James Hill Wheeler, on page 68, Volume II of the 1925 and 1851 editions. His son, William Shakespeare Harris (1815-1875) served in the North Carolina legislature, and was the author of "Historical Sketches of Poplar Tent Church."
