Scope and Contents

The collection consists of memorabilia from Johnson's student days and his photograph album. Items in the memorabilia collection include a Yell and Song booklet, a program for a 1913 debate between Davidson College and the University of South Carolina, a program booklet for the class of 1916 Sophomore Class banquet, and a photographic negative of the decorations for a class of 1917 banquet or class day. The photograph album is housed with photographs and is indexed in the photograph database.

Biographical / Historical

Walter A Johnson was graduated from Davidson College in 1916. He served in the military during World War I and taught at the Berry School in Mt. Berry, Georgia.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Materials sent from Berry College. Director Scott Breihaupt of Martha Berry Museum offered the materials to Davidson and forwarded them on January 17, 1997. Entire collection included 4 graduation programs (1913-1915), the 1913 viewbook, issues of the Davidsonian 1915-1917,and a 1924 alumni catalog as well as the materials listed in the collection. The materials not included in the collection were added to duplicate collections.
