Biographical / Historical
Reverend Parks was born in Mecklenburg County, NC in 1827. After graduating from Davidson in 1848, he became principal of Providence Academy in Charlotte. He also worked as a physician for three years before turning to the ministry. Parks served as pastor at Steel Creek Church, Sugar Creek Church, and Second Presbyterian Church, all located in Charlotte. Parks was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1856 and served until 1893.
