The collection consists of letters written by Abbot to his parents while at Davidson, correspondence between Davidson College and the Abbot family, letters written by Abbot's parents, and grade reports. Included in the Davidson College correspondence are two letters from Davidson president Walter Lingle.

Biographical / Historical
WilliamWright Abbot attended Davidson College from 1939 to 1941. He transferred to and graduated from the University of Georgia. He also attended Duke University receiving both masters and doctoral degrees. He taught history at William and Mary, Northwestern University, Rice University and the University of Virginia. He has also served as chief editor of The Papers of George Washington.
