Scope and Contents

This collections consists of a "black book" maintained by Mr. Hudson. With the words "strictly confidential" inscribed on the front, the book served as Mr. Hudson's address and rating book for women. In the book, one finds names, addresses, and individual ratings for these women. The ratings system is detailed in the book with classifications such as A for average, B for beautiful, G for gorgeous, H for hot, etc. Also included in the book are style tips, football scores and schedules, and Olympic and collegiate athletic records.

Biographical / Historical

Karl G. Hudson, Davidson College class of 1940, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. While at Davidson, Mr. Hudson was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, Spanish Club, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also served on the editorial staff of the Davidsonian and Scripts 'n Pranks and edited the Y.M.C.A. Handbook. In addition, he served as his Class Secretary, President of Sigma Upsilon, and secretary of the Honor Fraternity Council.
