Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a announcements and catalogs including a flyer soliciting charter subscriptions for the magazine "Briarpatch," a letter from Moreland Hogan to Chalmers Davidson following Mrs. Hogan's death, and copies of Briarpatch publications. The magazine issues contain excerpts from letters written by Mrs. Drury Lacy 1856-1859, poetry by Gill Holland and Tony Abbot, short tales by Moreland Hogan as well as pieces by other regional writers. Biographical / Historical

Briarpatch Press was owned and managed by Moreland and Priscilla Hogan. Based in Davidson, NC, the small press issued books of poetry by reigional writers, a bimonthly magazine, and published Mary Beaty's History of Davidson College.
