Scope and Contents
This scrapbook consists of original clippings mounted in chronological order beginning with March 23, 1898 and ending May 25,1898. There are additional clippings of poetry published in newspapers. The majority of the clippings appear to be from the New York Herald. The front and back covers are missing.

Biographical / Historical
The majority of the cartoons in the scrapbook were done by Charles Nelan, 1859-1904. Nelan worked for the New York Herald beginning in 1897. He published a book in 1898 entitled Cartoons of our War with Spain using many of the cartoons published in the Herald.
