Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a notebook with lecture notes that McNeill took for a Junior Bible class and a psychology class. The notes are thorough and appear to be almost a transcription of the lectures. McNeill does not identify the professors for each course. In 1904, the Bible classes were taught by John Bunyan Shearer and Mark Sentelle and the psychology classes, also known ans Mental and Moral Philosophy were taught by Shearer.

Biographical / Historical

John Worthy McNeill was born in Lakeview, North Carolina. A member of the class of 1904, he was an associate editor for both the yearboo and the Davidson Magazine. He was also member of the Philanthropic Society and served as society representative on the Library Committee. After graduation, he worked in the lumber business in Alabama and South Carolina before moving to Maysville, Kentucky and establishing the McNeill Lumber Company in 1923. During his business career, he also served as a director of the First National Bank of Maysville.
