Harry Lee Vance Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of his scrapbook, certificates, correspondence, clippings and a framed photograph montage. The scrapbook primarily documents his college years and has a heavy emphasis on sports. The certificates are for lettering in sports, participation in ROTC, and membership in ODK (Omicron Delta Kappa). The correspondence is from 1926-1930 and the clippings are from the "Mystery Photo" feature of the Mecklenburg Gazette in 1981.

Biographical / Historical
Harry Lee Vance was born in Huntersville, NC on May 2 1902. He attended Davidson College and graduated in 1926. While a student, he was active in athletics playing and lettering in football, baseball, and wrestling. After college he worked for Southern Bell and was active in his church. He died in Pfafftown, NC in 1985. He was inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.
