J. Harold McKeithen Scrapbook
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of his college scrapbook which contains photographs of Davidson football and basketball players and of football games. There are also photographs of the campus and of individual students, groups of students and women friends. There are programs for lectures, YMCA and sporting events, the Black Cat Caberet (Junior Speaking event in 1923), a German Club dance and a Kappa Alpha dance. There is a list of rules for the Davidson Golf Club and numerous clippings about sports and campus events.

Biographical / Historical
Julian Harold McKeithen came to Davidson from Aberdeen, NC. While a student, he was active in Kappa Alpha fraternity and the honorary societies Sigma Upsilon and Delta Pi Kappa. He served as a departmental assistant for biology and economics, was a member of the Glee Club, on the debate team, and an officer in the Philanthropic Literary Society. He also was on the Davidsonian and Quips and Cranks staff and as well as serving on the YMCA cabinet and as president of the Salesman's Club. After graduation in 1922, he attended the University of Virginia and Harvard Law School. He began practicing law in Winston-Salem and over his career became very active in civic leadership. He served as a trustee of Davidson College from 1952 to 1964. He also served as a Moderator of the N. C. Synod and was a commissioner to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, USA.
