Scope and Contents

Oral history interview with Rasheedah Hasan, class of 1996. Davidson College student Shirley Akrasih interviewed Rasheedah Hasan, class of 1996, on November 7, 2009 in the Career Services Office on the Davidson College campus. Hasan discusses her experiences as a student in the early 1990s, offering a unique perspective as she started college at the age of 16. Hasan was a member of the Black Student Coalition and worked as a volunteer at the Ada Jenkins Center and the local hospital. She mentions the impact of her internship with a public defender’s office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and her trip to Ghana with Congressman Mel Watt. Hasan also describes various aspects of campus social life and significant campus figures, including Dr. Maiz-Pena, Dr. Nancy Fairley, Dr. Janet Shannon, and Reverend Brenda Tapia.
