Scope and Contents

William A. Thompson grew up in Davidson and graduated from Davidson College in 1963. His father, Wilburn Arthur 'Wib' Thompson, managed the Southern Cotton Oil Company in Davidson and was a leader in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church. William's mother, Mildred Hartness Thompson, was an active member of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church and worked as an administrative assistant for Davidson College during the late 1950s and 1960s. In this interview William mostly recalls his childhood in Davidson and the impact the town had on his development.
