Scope and Contents

This interview was conducted by Eileen Dwyer '99 to support her research paper "Women's Athletics at Davidson College: Grassroots Movement and Institutional Support".

Jennifer Roos ‘93 was a student athlete at Davidson College, where she was involved in women’s field hockey, basketball and lacrosse teams before becoming an assistant coach of the Davidson Women’s Basketball team. In this oral history, Roos begins by recounting her involvement in sports growing up and how this led to her time at Davidson College, first as a student athlete, followed by an assistant coach. She then speaks about the unique aspects of women’s collegiate athletic programs that her experience coaching has taught her, before concluding with general observations on the difference between the cultures of women’s and men’s sports.
