Scope and Contents These letters cover a wide range of topics. One folder contains general correspondence written between 1890-1900. The other folders include letters concerning the hiring of Paul Barringer as teh college physician, Scholarships, Presbytery Reports, and the Ott Lectureship. Of particular interest is the folder marked William Bingham, which details an incident in which a professor was forced to resign after striking a student.

Scope and Contents These letters span the years 1873 to 1904, with the majority of the letters written during the Reconstruction and turn of the century. The letters cover a wide range of topics including real estate transactions, early scholarship plans, and efforts to establish preparatory schools for Davidson. There are specific files on the Helper Family, the Bradley Bequest, North Carolina Medical School, and Linden Manufacturing.

Planning and Institutional Research. Stuart Scholarships, 1976-1999, 1976
Scope and Contents The records come from three offices. The program was initially administered through a board which oversaw the annual interview process. In the early 1990s, the responsibility was transferred to the Office of Planning and Institutional Research with John Kelton serving as the prinicipal administrator.
