This collection consists of two pieces; a typescript and manuscript of a letter written to the mother of William S. Bailey, of Petersburg, VA reporting to her the details of her son's sickness and death at Davidson. Bailey entered Davidson in 1863, but died of a sudden illness in April of 1864. The second piece is a photocopy and typescript of a letter written by Dr. Kirkpatrick to an unknown recipient in April of 1866.
