Scope and Contents This collection consists of two pieces; a typescript and manuscript of a letter written to the mother of William S. Bailey, of Petersburg, VA reporting to her the details of her son's sickness and death at Davidson. Bailey entered Davidson in 1863, but died of a sudden illness in April of 1864. The second piece is a photocopy and typescript of a letter written by Dr. Kirkpatrick to an unknown recipient in April of 1866. Scope and Contents The files contain the final report of the committee as well as minutes from the meetings. The files also contain information on site visits which were made to other colleges in order to help facilitate the development of the report. Copies of the survey handed to all students is also available.
