 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The Ace Review was published yearly by the Ace Club of the high school in Davidson from 1938 to 1941. Its purpose, stated in the first issue in 1938, was to entertain the high school students and teachers. It included information about the high school sports and clubs, the boy scouts, ads, editorials, and many articles about the classes at the school (including articles about Alumni, the senior class, superlatives, and honor rolls). Some interesting articles from 1938 included one about sports preventing a crime wave, the new “craze” (square dancing), and the new mascot for the high school (a panther). In 1939, the Ace Club published news about their camping trip to West Virginia, the new purpose of the Ace Club (to support athletics), and an article on how to keep from growing old. Some interesting articles from 1940 include one about the basketball team winning almost every game, the superlatives (the favorite songs were “Oh Johnny” and “Tuxedo Junction”), and an article about the basketball team’s new uniforms. From 1941, interesting articles include “Facts about Camp Ace in West VA,” and “Parent-Teachers Association Formed Here.”
