Scope and Contents
The collection consists of class notes taken by Mr. Dalton during his four years at Davidson, with most coming from his junion and senior academic years. Additionally, the collection includes works of creative writing interspersed in the notes. His academic work during his years at Davidson, as reflected in the class notes, included classes in the natural sciences such as mineralogy, geology, and organic chemistry, philosophy, ethics, political and economic theory, English literature, and psychology.

Biographical / Historical
Archie Carter Dalton, Davidson College class of 1876, came to Davidson in 1872 from Washington, N.C. He was a member of the Philanthropic Literary Society at Davidson. After graduating, he briefly attended Union Theological Seminary befor his death in 1876 in Hampton Sydney, VA.
