Scope and Contents
The college consists of Feriba Thompson Stough's diary for 1935 to 1938. Daily entries include information about the weather and work or travel done that day. At the front of the diary, there are lists of family members and of deaths of friends and family. There is also a copy of a newletter with an article about the diary written by her granddaughter Mary Fetter Stough. (See DC0238s for her manuscript collection.)

Biographical / Historical
EmmaThompson (1866-1853) was the daughter of Samuel T. and Melvina Asbury Thompson. She married RJ Stough and had eight children: Bettie, Millie (Durant), Samuel Tertius, Frank C, Michael, Lucy (Willeford), Feriba, and Peter. She lived in Cornelius and owned tenant farms in the area. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
