Scope and Contents
Oral history interview and transcript with Judith Rosales Rivas, Davidson College class of 2017. Rivas discussed the Golden Door Scholarship program for students with DACA, her friendship with Jessica Gumucio (Davidson College valedictorian), the value of STRIDE, discrimination and racism at Davidson and in the larger community, her time as a hall counselor, the impact of Donald Trump's election (particularly for undocumented students), and using her skills as a bilingual volunteer to help patients at the Ada Jenkins Center and in clinics. Rivas also received numerous awards for her thesis work in neuroscience and highlights the importance of Dr. Ramirez's and Dr. Long's mentorship throughout the interview, as well as Davidson College President Carol Quillen's continued support.
