Interview of Dr. Hansford M. Epes, Jr. '61 by John P. Scherer (Class of 1989) as part of his senior project for the history department. Epes describes the Vietnam War issue on Davidson’s campus through the late 1960s and early 1970s. Epes discusses student-faculty relations, activism, civil rights, fraternities, and compulsory ROTC.

Biographical / Historical
Hansford M. Epes, Jr. '61 was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. He received an A.B. from Davidson College and a Ph.D. from UNC Chapel Hill. Epes joined the Davidson College faculty as Professor of Humanities and German in 1964, retiring in 2012. He was appointed College Registrar in 1999.
