Scope and Contents

The majority of information is found in the minutes, which span the time period of 1977-1989. In the minutes, references are made to the proposed Faculty Housing Program (1982) and to faculty and staff salaries and compensations. Information is also available on the revenue bonds (Series 1987 Bonds) which were issued by the North Carolina Educational Facilities Finance Agency and lended to the Board of Trustees for use by the college. Information is also available on the faculty salaries and compensations. Information on the proposal for the dependent tuition benefit package for faculty and staff is also found here. The Reports, 1981-1982 folder contains the faculty salary and compensation report, proposed Davidson College Faculty Housing Program, and faculty communtication with trustees reports.

Biographical / Historical

The Advisory Council on Finance, Personnel and Development was created to study faculty salaries and compensations. At the same time, this committee made proposals for the Faculty Housing Program (in 1982) and presented a report on Faculty Communication with the Trustees. Areas that the Advisory Council explored and discussed included personnel, energy costs, cost of education of students by department, cost and value of the football program, cost and value of the basketball program and the current college policy on faculty and staff housing. All college expenditures must first be passed by this committee.
