Scope and Contents

The correspondence consists of letters to Williamson concerning the college and a correspondence relating to Samuel B. Wilson's decision not to accept the presidency of Davidson College in 1841. The financial material consists of receipts for faculty salaries. The sermons inclue a printed pamphlet of Williamson's "Sermon on Baptism" printed in Charlotte, NC in 1838, a handwritten version of his 1851 Baccalaurate Address at Davidson College and an undated sermon based on Galatians 3:29.

Scope and Contents The majority of information is found in the minutes, which span the time period of 1977-1989. In the minutes, references are made to the proposed Faculty Housing Program (1982) and to faculty and staff salaries and compensations. Information is also available on the revenue bonds (Series 1987 Bonds) which were issued by the North Carolina Educational Facilities Finance Agency and lended to the Board of Trustees for use by the college. The files contain a listing of the committee members from 1969-1975; minutes and correspondence from 1971 to 1995; subcommittee reports on faculty salaries, the office of Associate Dean of Faculty, faculty evaluations, and reappointment and tenure. The majority of the files deal with issues of faculty evaluations and developing policies.
