Scope and Contents

The files begin with the inclusion on the Academic Regulations as designed by the Educational Policy Committee. The folder on "Coeducation" contains the committees report on coeducation at Davidson. The correspondence files contain information on self-scheduled exams as well as approval for various courses taught on campus throughout the years. A specific folder is set aside for the Davidson in Washington Program. Two folders contain information on the Extended Studies Program and the reprot on a survey of the faculty in dealing with this program. A specific folder is set aside for the discussion of the Freshman Symposim as well as for the Honors College and the Knight Foundation Proposal. The vast majority of the minutes contain information on the various course taught by professors, the authorization of grade distribution and general considerations of the educational policy. The files also contain information on a proposal for a new program book for the college union as well as a summary of the faculty members from 1969-1975.

Biographical / Historical

The Educational Policy Committee was established to keep informed of developments in educational policy, to examine the effects of educational practice at Davidson, and to recommend where appropriate changes which might better serve Davidson's educational purposes. This committee was charged with informing the Trustee committees of its work.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Minutes from 1997 to 2001 were distributed via email. They do not contain all the background documents. Other files were transferred from the VPAA's office and some gaps were filled in using committee files donated by retired faculty.
