Biographical / Historical
This committee keeps itself and others informed about programs for professional improvement. It reviews current practices at Davidson as it affect the preservation of academic feedom; appointment, promotion and tenure of faculty members; programs of faculty welfare, including policies concerning compensation and fringe benefits; and policiies of institutional support for study, research, travel and active participation in professional organizaitons. The committee formulates and, with the concurrence of the faculty, recommends where appropriate such changes of policy as can contribute to the professional improvemnt of the Davidson faculty. The committee also gives advice on new appointments, granting of promotions and tenure, sabbaticals, leaves of absence, and related faculty personnel matters.
